FGP-WPMP Tengiz, Kazakhstan

This month Castings Services Ltd were awarded with a substantial order to supply one of the biggest projects on the planet, the Future Growth Project which is part of the Wellhead Pressure Management Project in Tengiz, Kazakhstan (FGP-WPMP).

The estimated cost of FGP-WPDP, is a huge $36.8 Billion with the project expected to increase crude oil production by 12million tonnes per year, the gas production capacity by an additional 960 million standard cubic feet a day (MMscfd), and the field’s overall production capacity to approximately 39 million tonnes of oil a year.

Castings Services Ltd were tasked with sourcing 171 metres of 300mm and 400mm wide longitudinal gratings, capable of withstanding the harsh Kazakhstani weather conditions, for installation in one of the many new service yards in Tengiz.

Lead time was of vital importance to the customer, meaning the sales team had to work quickly to find an appropriate solution and plan how the yard staff were going to assemble, and package the goods up in time for dispatch.

The sales team had to work closely with the yard staff to co-ordinate the dispatch of the goods. Each of the 20 consignments had to be to be securely packaged together and fully labelled up with item description/codes, pallet weights (net & gross), dimensions and dispatch notes to ensure the consignments got through customs to eventually reach Tengiz.

The goods were collected by the shipping agent on time and transported to Tengiz entirely by road – an approx. 3260 mile journey crossing 8 different countries!
